There are more than 10 million people with funeral plans, but not many people actually know exactly what they're getting into. Funerals happen at the last minute, so it's important to be prepared. There are three key points on my funeral checklist. First, know exactly what your policy covers, refunds, and additional costs. Second, agree with your family on your preferred funeral arrangements, including cremation, burial, and natural burial. Third, calculate the "true cost for your situation," not the average cost. Most funeral losses start with a lack of basic checks, so pull out your contract and go over it now.
